The English RPG making community has seen sort of a similar situation.

True, the RM2k(3) communities are going down but there are a still few decent games here and there.

The main reason I think this is the case is because we expect in the long time RPG maker 2003 has been released that there would be many complete games, but that's not really the case.

Many developers stopped using RM2k3 and switched to VX and XP. However, this is a downfall because resources are harder to create and I don't think it puts enough emphasis on originality.

Also RM2k3 is considered abandonware. There are many bugs in the software that are discouraging to me and slow down development.

Needless to say, I have promised myself to finish an amateur RPG. Many people try creating games for the community, but in reality I feel amateur games should be made for your own personal enjoyment instead.
