Marvel Studios has found its Doctor Strange director! Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose helmer Scott Derrickson will take on the master of the mystic arts.
"[Doctor Strange] checks the box off this criteria that I have," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told SuperHeroHype recently about the long-gestating feature. "He’s totally different from anything else we have."
Although a specific release date for Doctor Strange has not yet been set, Marvel has two placeholder dates set for unnamed features on July 8, 2016 and on May 5, 2017. It's looking more and more likely that the good doctor will be claiming one of those spots.
Derrickson's other directing credits include the 2009 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still and the upcoming Deliver Us From Evil, hitting theaters July 2. He shared the news of his involvement with Doctor Strange with the below Tweet:

Na ja, "offiziell" allem voran in der New 52. Constantine ist auch schon vor ~20? Jahren in Sandman aufgetaucht etc ... ganz so klar ist es also nicht. :D Du kannst bei Comics ja nur in den offensichtlichen Fällen klar abtrennen, welche Figur jetzt zu welcher Reihe gehört. Wo sie ursprünglich mal aufgetaucht sind, spielt heute eh keine Rolle mehr, und dementsprechend wird es immer ein gewisses Überlappen geben. Daran scheidet sich dann auch der Weg; versucht man es so wie CW zu machen, mit mehreren Serien, oder nimmt man einfach "fremde" Figuren für eine Serie? Ganz drauf verzichten geht schwer, wenn auch bei Constantine mit Sicherheit noch erheblich besser als bei vielen anderen.
Hat der Sender denn schon andere DC-Serien (angekündigt)? Ich glaube nicht, dass da groß eine Doctor-Fate-Serie oder sowas geplant ist - außer vielleicht, Doctor Strange haut richtig heftig rein, box-office-mäßig. Und der Helm of Fate eignet sich einfach wahnsinnig gut als Story-Element, weil er vergleichsweise "un-superheldig" ist (bis man jemanden "Doctor Fate" nennt, natürlich :D). Smallville hat den auch konzeptuell praktisch 1:1 aus dem Comics übernommen. Der wäre also durchaus auch ein gutes Ding für einen Constantine-Arc oder sowas, ohne dass man eine echte Crossover-Kiste aufmachen muss. Ich würde sogar tippen, dass der im Gesamtbild der Serie nicht mal auffällt. Solange sie niemanden Doctor Fate nennen, wie gesagt. :p
Jason Momoa als Aquaman in Batman v Superman und Justice League? Kann ich mir zwar irgendwie nur schwer vorstellen, finde ich aber prinzipiell ganz gut ^^
Als ehemalige Baywatch Nixe ist er quasi wie für die Rolle gemacht. :D

Wiebe, will be making the journey to the small screen, each as a television series. "Rat Queens" will be produced by Weta Workshop’s Pukeko Pictures and Heavy Metal, who plan on turning the comedic fantasy into a half-hour animated series. "Peter Panzerfaust" on the other hand will be produced by BBC Worldwide and Heavy Metal with "Life on Mars" creators Matthew Graham and Ashley Pharoah writing the pilot script.
Created by Wiebe and Roc Upchurch, Rat Queens launched this past September and is described as follows: "Who are the Rat Queens? A pack of booze-guzzling, death-dealing battle maidens-for-hire, and they're in the business of killing all god's creatures for profit. It's also a darkly comedic sass-and-sorcery series starring Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cleric and Betty the Hippy Smidgen Thief."
Peter Panzerfaust was also created by Wiebe with artist Tyler Jenkins. The series launched in February of 2012 and is a retelling of J.M. Barrie's "Peter Pan" set in the backdrop of Nazi-occupied France during World War II instead of the fantastical Neverland. Check back here for more info on these projects as we learn them.
