    Kobayashi's gone crazy!

WN: So I wanted to get some more particular information about Nero such as his zodiac sign, blood type, favorite food, and if you know where he's from...or is he mysterious?

HK: We haven't announced any of that information yet. We just haven't decided on the particulars yet, so I can't tell you any of that.

    WN: He's just too mysterious.

    HK: Dante likes pizza.
    Was zum...?*O_o

HK: This is the first title that we've put out for the PS3, so just by virtue of it being the first time around, that was a challenge. And there's just so much you can do with the hardware, so getting all of our ideas and squeezing them into this little box was a challenge.

Everything was developed on a PC, actually, which made a framework for multiple platforms. The technology we had, but it was the first time we implemented it on the PS3. So, as I said before, the PC was the platform for development, and then we ported it to the 360, which wasn't a big deal from the PC. The challenge was to get it onto the PS3.

Chris Kramer, Capcom: To give you a little background on technology, Capcom spent a year and a few million dollars working on an internal engine called MT Framework, for Multi-Target. It was directed by Inafune-san for the company, to create an engine that could be used across multiple platforms and multiple types of projects. So, DMC4 is the first PS3 game to use MT Framework, but the framework has also been used in Lost Planet and Dead Rising.
Für die "wegen der Xbox 360 Fassung wurde die PS3 Version heruntergeschraubt"-Fraktion: DMC4 wurde auf dem PC entwickelt und nachträglich an die PS3 angepasst.

HK: It's all about missions, basically jobs that Nero has to do. So, Berial is mission two of twenty or so missions in the game. It's just about taking a mission and beating a boss. We made Berial a pretty big and tough boss for only the second mission in the game, but we did it so that it makes the game worthwhile. It gives players something challenging to do right off the bat. Of course you'll lose to him a couple times, first, but we leave hints and tell you some ways to beat him so eventually you build up quickly into being able to defeat him.

The first time you fight Berial you play as Nero and you end up running away before he dies. That's the way he survives. The second go around Dante becomes the playable character -- the stronger, cooler Dante -- and so then you can take out Berial, now knowing a little bit more about how to defeat him.
Dante gibt Berial den Rest. Heißt das jetzt man kann nach dem Durchspielen auch das komplette Game aus Dantes sicht erleben? Gnah, Kobayashi verwirr uns nicht.

WN: Did you want to introduce some of these other characters?

HK: Nero and Kyrie are the two key players in the story. We've put them in a love story-type situation. Nero belongs to a group called The Order of the Sword and they worship Dante's father as a kind of diety, even though he's a demon. Nero's childhood friend [Kyrie]'s older brother is one of the higher-ups in the group, a leader. The sexy Gloria, and the researcher Agnus are also higher members of The Order of the Sword.

Because a big part of the fan base is guys, we always put in a nice sexy character, hence Gloria. In the past we've used Trish, who is a recurring character, and also Lady. Lady appeared in 3, and now she's about ten years older than she was in that one, but she's grown up very nicely, as you'll see.
