First of all, this is everything I've noticed that has annoyed me, was poorly done in my opinion, and detracts from making it a better game. This isn't a thread for PC / XBOX fighting. This isn't a thread for fanboys to yell at me that I should go play Unreal instead.

This is a thread for people to read and go 'Oh, nobody's mentioned that before'. 'Fan'-filled forums are NOTORIOUSLY bad for being filled with 'THIS GAME HAS NO FLAWS OMG PERFECT' posts, and no 'This game has these problems...'. It's hard to get an idea on what the game is really like in that case.

That said, take these statements with a grain of salt. You might not be annoyed by the pop-in as much as I am. Or, you might be MORE annoyed. However, every time I was playing Oblivion and thought 'Boy that's stupid, why is that like this'? I mentally ticked it off this list. Here's everything I can remember.

- Interface is designed for old women or something. Hardly anything more can be said about this. It's huge. It's 90% bloat. I want function, not form. I want to be able to see a hundred items in my inventory at once while I can ALSO see my spells AND my magic effects, AND my stats, AND my skills, AND my map. Furthermore, why the hell can't I see my inventory and the vendor inventory at once? Why can't I 'batch sell' and instead have to click crap off one-by-one?

- Key binding issues. I want to be able to hit 'I' for my inventory, not F-whatever it is. The issue here is that I *CAN'T* bind these keys to what I want.

- This game crashes more then a teenage girl overdosing on antidepressants. In fact, it crashes more then MORROWIND DID.

- Graphics are a combination of 'good' and 'ugly'. The terrain textures at long range are HIDEOUSLY noticably low-res. In many cases, you can see where they plain don't line up. Objects don't 'fade in', but instead *POOF* pop into existance. This is especially noticable on the horizon in the case of trees, or on grass. I actually turned OFF my grass because it was so damn ugly and annoying. There's even more - horses don't have jump animations.

- Why are we still using the BROKEN AS HELL LEVEL UP AND SKILL SYSTEM? I mean, I guess I can understand keeping the skills, and MAYBE the level-up system based on getting points in your 'Major Skills'. But why the HELL are we still using the lame 'stat multiplier' system? Did you guys EVER play Galsiah's Character Development? It pretty much removed levelling up, and your stats automatically reflected your skills and vice versa. This stupid Morrowind method is flat-out broken, and has been for years.

- Horses themselves handle and control like the horses added in by the mods in Morrowind did. That's not a good thing. It feels like I'm steering a forklift around.

- Unless you have a high-end PC, combat at less-then-optimal framerates is difficult, at best. We really need an option to slow down game speed to 80 or 90% in combat to compensate, especially since combat *DOES* bring a fairly high graphics load to the table. You could cruise around outside at 50 FPS, get attacked, and you sink to 20.

- I figure I'll mention the random and unexplained crashes again because they're so fricking annoying.

- Can't name our game saves. What the hell.

- Construction Set uses item IDs and not item NAMES. There's probably a reason for this, but needless to say, nobody is going to remember the retarded hexadecimal codes for items. We already have item IDs in regards to their name ala 'Steelgreaves', why does the GAME use 'A000E24' or whatever?

- 'Dumbed down'. Remember our weapon damage ranges? Remember the awesome 'Combat Enhanced' mod? Instead, weapons do a 'set' damage. And the differences between weapon damages are so minor, it's hardly worth noting.

- RAI based on difficultly? What the hell is this? Just because I don't want to die in two hits doesn't mean the AI has to be stupid too.

- I've yet to do a quest without some annoying bug. In one quest, I had to swim around for over an hour finding fish, because they weren't where the compass said they were. In another, the guy I was following routinely got 'stuck' and I had to reload. In yet another, the NPCs that were supposed to attack me simply stood there staring at me until I hit them in the face a couple times.

- The physics are nice, but badly implemented. I can't count the number of times I've gone into a shop and sent piles of inventory spilling across the floors. As well, many people liked setting up and arranging items. We can't do that anymore since everything just topples no matter what.

- No race / character information. Why the hell did we take a step BACK from Morrowind? Why can't I see my race's abilities and bonuses on generation? (If there's a way, please share, beacuse I have no idea how).

- No polearms / medium armor / crossbows. There's absolutely no good reason for this outside of laziness.

- Poor feedback. I'd like to know how my blocking skill is actually working, and if I actually blocked the attacks. I've been hit by attacks that seem to knock me on my ass but I somehow blocked all the damage. Then I get hit with attacks and I don't even budge, but I seemingly took damage. And I have no indication on what happened unless I'm wathing my health bars. Just serves to make combat annoying in that respect.

- Slow projectile speed. You can easilly dodge ranged spells (ala Morrowind), and arrows are especially harder to use given how far you have to lead the targets. I've used bows. Arrows travel a bit faster then 30 MPH, especially if you're as strong as my guy is.

I'll add more if I think of more. I'm going to bed. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun, but really, there's far too much of THIS type of crap in the game to make me consider it the "Best Game".

Overall quite negative:

- After initial and quite bizarre installation I got the game started, (after being promted to delete temporary internet files - it worked.. wtf?). I disaprove of starting the game meeting a famous character and in the capital city. There should be build up to these things

- The combat is so dodgy and confusing. Its really hard to tell what the hell is happening. Furthermore the view constanting and inexplicably switches from 1st to 3rd person in combat. Also when you are hitting or being hit (its more or less impossible to differentiate between the two) your character is prone to suddenly changing directions. In the heat of combat, this is extremely disorienting.

- Most of you will find this hard to believe, but in all seriousness I prefer morrowind graphics. Oblivion grpahics are too glossy. They try to be too realistic. It just doesn't work for me. I was skeptical when reading others' complaints about the appearance of long distance structure and land, but it really does look poor. Especially the waterline (ie, where the water surface meets the land)

- The interface is a bit of a joke. THere should be a minimap on the play screen like in Morrowind. Furthermore I don't like not being able to resize and drag the interface. They tried to go all fancy with it, but if it ain't broke don't fix it.

- Its too easy. I remember I had to potion up and reload afew times just to clear a house of cave rats in Balmora in Morrowind. Now I can beat gangs of thugs with no skill at all, practise or work put in.

-The interiors are lame. Example: in some town there was a church with a cool classical church exterior. Inside was a rectanguler room with about nothing in it. It did not reflect the outside model at all. Another example was the lighthouse in the capital. the inside is a circular room which jumps to another circular room up a ladder. The upper room floor is tiled, which is disorienting as obviously the floor should be wooden. Furthermore, there is no semblance of a lighting aparatus anywhere in the lighthouse. It is merely a series of circular rooms.

-I also don't like the conversations. Sometimes in a conversation there is one sentence for you to choose. It just seems redundant for there to be a sentence you need to click on even when there is no alternative

- there is disgraceful and constant pop up in outdoor areas of about 20 metres from the view. Clearly, the sacrifice was gameplay in preference of realistic looking grass. My framerate is also quite terrible in outdoor areas, despite have 3gz processer and the graphics card only 1 step under the 'recommended' model.

- In converations, or when a chest's contents is being inspected there is no keyoard button to exit the interface. You have to mouse click a tiny button on the screen.

- Movement feels gluggly and burdensome. Yknow how in countersrike you can smoothing glide along while in some other games like swat3 the control feels unresponsive and 'gluggy' - well, its like swat3, except worse. Not that its a huge deal since it is an RPG

I have to say I'm disapointed, on the flipside I probably won't become reclusive for several months (thanks morrowind and add-ons!). If this was a game I knew nothing about, I might not even be bothered booting it up again. However, due to my love of morrowind I will persist in trying to fin dthe appeal of Oblivion for many more hours. I hope this thread isn't deleted.

Mind you, the charactercreation tool is amazing, but for some reason I suck at " building" a face. And the female default faces are just AWFULL to begin with!

I would LOVE to see some pics of succesfull facial builds.
