IGN:
Players will progress through the game via events and battles. Director Hajime Tabata noted to the magazine that Crisis Core is similar to a standard RPG in this respect. The part that directly involves the player are the battles. The game will place more emphasis on battle tempo owing to the choice of hardware.

Gamespot:
Very little actual gameplay was shown in the trailer, but from what we did see, it seems that the game is very action-oriented. The combat sequences are fast, and we saw several moments where Zack jumped from one enemy to another, slashing with his sword as well as using a gun.
