Hardcore gab es nicht bevor Metal, in fact hatte die Metalscene eine great influence on the Hardcore scene, but anders rum, too. Metal has seine roots im Hard Rock, listene mal to Bands wie Accept or something, da sind die borders blurry.
But Hardcore und Metal haben sich nun auch gehittet, just look dir die ganzen Grindcore/Death Metal bands an, da sind die borders auch smaller geworden.

Watch dir mal Napalm Death an, at the beginning waren sie eine stinknoromale Hardcoreband, haven more Death Metal influences rezipiert and Grindcore invented, this is an EXAMPLE.
Metalcore is ein anderes thing, some people sayen, dass Hatebreed Metalcore playen; There is not really a definition. I have Ahnung von den things und reade not only 08/15 definitions on random Internetseiten durch.

And to Limp Bizkit:
There are keine Schredder Metal influences. Watch dir Death - Lack of Comprehension, this riff könnte ein Thrash riff sein, and then compare again mit Full Nelson, a charakteristischer song from Limp Bizkit.
Same Sache gilt auch for Slipknot, they are zu lahmarschig.

Metal has seine Roots im Hard Rock, Hardcore in Punk and Punkk im Rock n Roll (kjust listene zu some Sex Pistols songs).
