So, RG ist seit letztem Donnerstag in Japan draussen... und 150000 verkaufte Einheiten zum Start sind nicht schlecht!

Holt sich wer den Import? Meiner kommst wohl Dienstags... aber werde wohl nicht allzuviel Zeit zum Zocken haben.


Viele scheinen das Game zu mögen, Ashley (bekannter GameFAQs Reviewer) dagegen weniger... immerhin, gut 70% der Punkte, die ihm negativ erscheinen, sollte ich mögen, also halb so wild. Einzig stören dürfte mich das mit der nicht idealen Kamera (kennt man ja), die Stamina Recharge Sache und der Alchemy Pot. Gott, wie ich das Teil in DQVIII hasse...

Zum Glück gehören die langen Ladezeiten aus DQVIII der Vergangenheit an. Und ne gewisse Coolness scheint auch wieder da zu sein. Go, RG! May the Force be with you!

Counter Statement von mir zur etwas übertriebenen Anti-Ash-Review-Stimmung:

Wow, Ashley sure is playing FAST, assuming the game takes about 60 hours, that would mean around 15-20 hours a day... I wish I had that much time on my hands.

But anyway, I like his reviews in general nonetheless.

Yeah, he really does seem to dislike the game, but unlike other people, he clearly states what he dislikes and why. Despite his critics, it allows the reader to judge from him/herself whether they agree with it or not. What HE dislikes does have to be something EVERYONE hates! Examples? Here we go:

- Non creativeness and innovation? Fine with me!

- Stealing from other RPGs? I'm ok with that.

- Limited interaction? Again, I don't like wasting time on things such as pointless town folk talk....

- Cliché'd characters? I usually like it!

- Action pauses with item uses unlike KH? Yay, one aspect I didn't like in KH!

- Linear gameplay? Got limited play time, so again, I prefer it.

- FFVIII Limit Break ripoffs? GREAT, FFVIII was one of my favorite FF afterall.

- Sphere Board? Guess I'm the only one who liked it....

- Artwork etc. unlike in DQVIII? Yes, even after many hours, I still don't like DQVIII...

- Feature X like in Tales of someting? Cool, I'll love it!

Plus, I don't know the .hack and Dark Chronicles games, so I don't care if there's some stuff from those in the game.


So, bottom line: Seeing that about 70% of his negative comments concern things that I actually LIKE, I'm looking forward even more to my RG import, which I should receive next Tuesday.


Oh, and as for the 8/10 vs. negative review thingie: Yep, before making a fuss about it, you should read the entire review, especially the last paragraph.

Personally, what I think makes a reviewer great is the skill to distiguish between what you just dislike on a personal basis and what you dislike because it's objectively bad.

Sure, it's not possible to write without any sort of bias, but if someone dislikes a game for it's non-creative approach, that shouldn't automatically mean a really low score.
