Sqenix Interview at Gamespy

The session began, expectedly, with a question about the development of Final Fantasy XI for Xbox 360. According to Wada, the game will be ready for the system's launch. Development has been progressing smoothly. There will be no fundamental changes to the game over the PC and PS2 versions -- they want to present the same world and game concept to Xbox 360 gamers.
Uhmm.... Weak?

The enigmatic The World of Mana came up next. Yesterday, this latest installment in the Mana series was revealed with absolutely nothing but a short teaser trailer: platform, release date, and even what it is, were not revealed. It's an example of Square Enix's new philosophy of "polymorphic content", or fully realized worlds that could be used for a variety of media such as games, books, anime, and cell phone content. Wada reiterated that The World of Mana is not ready to be further revealed, in either release timing or platform -- or even in fact what form of media it would even take. It's still under planning.
Polymorphic my ass. Weak.

Next up was a question about the mysterious Final Fantasy XII, which is not showing on the E3 floor despite being fully playable last year. Wada assured us that it's just due to the tight development schedule and that the timing wasn't right to show it again. The company plans to showcase the game at a special show in Japan from July 30-31.
Even weaker.

A question about the inclusion of Japanese voice tracks on Square Enix's future game titles came up. Wada asked the questioner "would it be popular?"
WTF?? Wada get a clue. Was ein Trottel.

A question came forward about Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, the forthcoming PSP action RPG. Yesterday, Square Enix showcased an anime style "concept movie" for the game featuring no gameplay. Will the game feature anime-style graphics? Hashimoto stepped forward to answer this (and only this) question. The game will, indeed, feature an anime style. They wish to create a game which takes full advantage of the PSP specifications.
Ahh.... weak. Samurai Mushashi all over again.

The definition of Square Enix's new "polymorphic content" strategy came up. This term does not necessarily promise console games -- content will take form in any media required. (It's worth noting, though Wada didn't, that Square Enix publishes manga in Japan.) Decisions about what form the content should take will be driven by fan demand and artistic ideas -- Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the DVD/UMD movie, was cited as an example of this. Any "well-established world" is up for grabs, and they will provide choices to users in any "terminal" (meaning console, handheld, or cell phone platform.)
WEEEEEEEAAAAK. Any "well-established world" is up for grabs"... im Grunde geben sie sich selbst eine Freifahrschein jeden einzelnen Franchise auszuwhoren. Gottnochmal, schmeisst das Square aus dem Titel und lasst nur noch Enix, seit der Übernahme hat der Square Asst nur noch Müll produziert, nur von Enix Seiten kommt zeugs auf das man sich freuen kann.
