Kingdom Hearts wurde vor knapp 2 Wochen von der International Game Developers Association (IGDA) in der Kategorie für Excellence in Visual Arts ausgezeichnet.

Der Projektleiter und Charakterdesigner von Kingdom Hearts sagte hierzu :

"On behalf of the Square, Disney Interactive and our development team, I would like to thank IGDA for this incredible award. To be honored with this award makes us realize that not only do our fans appreciate our work, but our peers as well. I couldn't be happier with the success of Kingdom Hearts and would like to continue to create games that offer a unique and exciting visual experience for the gamers."
