In a surprise announcement, Marvel Studios and Edgar Wright have revealed that Wright has departed Ant-Man. The official statement on the matter reads as follows:

Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on Ant-Man due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.

Written by Wright and Joe Cornish, Ant-Man is set to star Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Patrick Wilson and Corey Stoll. The film follows a biochemist Dr. Hank Pym using his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects. Paul Rudd will play Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Michael Douglas stars as Hank Pym.

WAT? WHY?! O__ô

Megakacke. Echt. Ich sehe zwar gewisse Unterschiede im Stil, so zu den anderen Filmen, glaube aber definitiv, dass das dem Universum, geschweige denn dem Film, gut getan hätte. Wtf ... T_T Ich hoffe a), dass man noch genügend Wright im Script merkt, und b) dass man vor allem nicht zu viele Konsequenzlücken zwischen Script und Film merkt. Große Scheiße, Marvel.

Find ich auch schade. Ich denke Wright hätte da auch als Regisseur supergut reingepasst und das Marvel Universum toll ergänzt. Die Trennung war ja "in aller Freundschaft", aber ich würde trotzdem nur zu gerne wissen, wie genau die kreativen Differenzen hier ausgesehen haben...


@Guardians Trailer: Sieht nach wie vor toll aus und ich freu mich riesig auf den Film. Nichtsdestotrotz mach ich mir langsam mal wieder etwas Sorgen über den CGI-Overkill-Faktor. Rocket Raccoon und Groot verlangen einem schon eine Menge ab, aber in dem Trailer wirkte selbst Drax in ein paar Einstellungen seltsam digital "überarbeitet" :-/

Ist ja doof. Und ziemlich daneben von Marvel, wenn es denn so stimmt.

Klingt durchaus nach etwas Glaubwürdigem, ja (und wär imho echt schwach von Marvel ... Saftladen). Ich wäre bei Latino Review aber vorsichtig, die haben schon einige Bohnen geschrieben, was Superheldenfilme angeht.

Wird man ja am Script merken, vorallem wird sich Wright vermutlich dazu nach dem Erscheinen des Films dazu äußern, sobald seine NDA abäuft.
Kann aber auch verstehen, dass Marvel mit sowas wie "Antman" nicht alzu riskant sein will, Guardians of the Galaxy lässt sich da wegs verrückten CGI Waschbär besser verkaufen. Und Hasselhof. Ohne Hoff wär der ganze Trailer nur müll.

Marvel Studios has found its Doctor Strange director! Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose helmer Scott Derrickson will take on the master of the mystic arts.

"[Doctor Strange] checks the box off this criteria that I have," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told SuperHeroHype recently about the long-gestating feature. "He’s totally different from anything else we have."

Although a specific release date for Doctor Strange has not yet been set, Marvel has two placeholder dates set for unnamed features on July 8, 2016 and on May 5, 2017. It's looking more and more likely that the good doctor will be claiming one of those spots.

Derrickson's other directing credits include the 2009 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still and the upcoming Deliver Us From Evil, hitting theaters July 2. He shared the news of his involvement with Doctor Strange with the below Tweet:

Just got out of working on the Guardians cut for IMAX 3D and I'm unbelievably excited about it. Guardians of the Galaxy has been planned as a 3D film from its very inception. Yes, if you see the film in 2D, you'll get a full experience. But the 3D experience promises a little something extra. Unlike many directors, I've been actively involved with converting every shot to 3D, making sure it works perfectly for the story and the film, making sure it's spectacular and immersive without being silly, distracting, or overly showy. 3D conversion was once far inferior to shooting in 3D, but over the past couple years new technology has allowed us incredible control over the 3D effects, making it equal to or in some cases greater than shooting in 3D.

As an EXTRA benefit for those who see the film in IMAX 3D, we will be changing aspect ratios throughout the film in a way that makes the experience even fuller and more encompassing. I've personally chosen all the places where the changes occur and, again, I love how it's coming along. The changing aspect ratios in this case are actually a part of the storytelling.

Ich muss zugeben, jetzt möchte ich den Film in 3D und IMAX sehen. Da es aber lange her ist, dass sich das für mich gelohnt hat ... hm.

Das nächste IMAX ist ca. 150km entfernt von mir. So weit möchte ich nicht für einen Film fahren.
