Hakuma Tsugata's handiwork creating "visions of Hell" has helped turn the Hanibe Gankutsu-in Buddhist temple where he is the chief priest into one of the major tourist attractions of the sleepy town of Komatsu on the Sea of Japan coast.

Inside these wondrous caverns are literally hundreds of Buddhist statues Tsugata has made himself, depicting numerous versions of Hell that attract tens of thousands of visitors to the temple yearly, though it is currently closed while the priest prepares for trial, Shukan Bunshun notes.
Instead of the regular Bodhisattva statues adorning most temples in Japan, Tsugata's creations have a more earthly appearance as they're based on actual events.
For instance, hidden away in Tsugata's cave is Osama Bin Laden, or at least a statue of the Islamic terrorist in a Buddhist pose.
