Nintendo has announced Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia for 3DS. It will launch via the Nintendo eShop on May 19.

The game is inspired by Fire Emblem Gaiden, which released exclusively in Japan in 1992 and helped to define the series’ signature style.

Shadows of Valentia reimagines Gaiden on a grander scale. It features two protagonists, Alm and Celica, who join others locked in a tragic war dividing the content of Valentia.

The game offers free-roaming, dungeons crawling with enemies, flexible character progression, and everything that made Fire Emblem Gaiden unique. It promises “classic Fire Emblem gameplay with a twist.”
