    [Rm2k3] Among Thieves

(Click the logo or my signature to see where I've been regularly updating this game.)

You are Eric Loire, a veteran of the ten year war. Two years has passed since and the two kingdoms have sought peace. But it now appears that peace could be broken. Having been falsely accused of stealing the Dragon's Tear, the symbol of truce between the two nations, you set off and try to find the real thief and clear your name.

    Made with Rpg Maker 2003.

    Eric Loire

Eric is a charming, dashing man with a sharp and cunning wit. Eric comes across as cocky and self-centered at times, but his trust in his partner in crime Aura & brother in arms Hawke is absolute. Eric is a burglar and a manipulator who waltzes through danger nonchalantly, as though the world cannot touch him. Searching for treasures & gaining notoriety as a thief ever since leaving the army during the war, Eric is an opportunist at work.

    Aura Renault

Aura has a mysterious past and she likes to keep it that way. Having grown up in an orphanage in Laray, she has always had to struggle to get by. Learning the hardships of life early on chosing a life of crime, partial to theft/burglary. Aura prefers to keep things professional between her and Eric, although there are times it is hinted it could be more than that.

    Hawke Forres

Grew up with a wealthy and privileged upbringing. His father was a very well respected, upstanding man & Mayor of Coleridge. His mother left he & his father when he was just six years old. Growing up with a very restricted lifestyle, knowing how much pressure he was under to succeed. He was taught by the best tutors in the country and was top of his class every year. In the eyes of many, he looked like he was heading on his way to becoming a worthy successor to his father.

Which is why when his joining of the army was such a shock to most. His father though, wrought with anger disowned him and denied him his lineage.

    Cole Revera

The son to the great king Gerald of Revera. Prince of the great nation and perceived as a kind hearted individual to his people. But beneath that farce lies a hunger for power & desperation to ascend to the throne. Opposed to the peace agreement til the end knowing full well his country could have won the war, Cole envelopes himself in finding his own limitations.

So what have I been up to:

Well hungover as hell but I've managed to post this topic. Happy New Year everyone, my resolution is to finish this game and to stop myself from throwing up.

    Hi Tau !

I was watching your screens in in the screen tread several times, and I like your screens and style, especially the rs3 charsets, I worked myself with them in the past. Perhaps when you need some more I could send them to you, I released my maker grafics some years before on internet, but site didnt exist anymore. And I was now watching the video, looks cool and I like the little animations like the shop sign in the wind.
But still you need more rs3 edits, especially for Cole Revera. Well hsi grafic from rs3 wasnt that from a main chara or to significant, but even compared with his avatar, the colour didnt realy fits well. The amor could be more darker.

Will we get a demo our do you rush to the complet version of the game ?

Anyway keep on you good work !

Very inspriring setting on a high visual level! I'm glad to see something like this on the rm2k3 again. Espacially the way you create your city-maps seems like never seen before to me. The only thing missing is something playable.

  5. #5
Woah At the first i'm not very good in English but i think you can understand what i say, i hope so
The Characters look very intresting, at the most i like Hawke! And to the screens, this is awesome the mapping is very good, and i hope this game will be finished I wish you good luck with the Project

Reading the descriptions, I think the characters are interesting.
I'm especially curious about Eric, because he doesn't seem to be a typical mainstream rpg hero.
The portraits look pretty good, too. Did you make them yourself?
I also like the screens, as they are neither too emty nor too stuffed. (Plus, I like trains...)

I'm certainly going to play the game once there is something playable.

Oh wow, thanks guys for the comments, btw how do you have a youtube video embeded?

@Erzengal - No I plan for a demo, mainly for testing purposes though. It's funny you mention that as I was considering changing his character up a little haha. Also yeah sure man send them my way, always looking for more graphics to work with.
@Reapers Delight - Thank you, I aim to please It is kind of a throwback to the golden age of Rpg Maker.
@Blacksoul - Your English is fine, and thank you.
@Sein - But.. I am in your community
@Zitroneneis - In regards to Eric yeah he really isn't your typical hero, but that's because this isn't a save the world from evil/destruction kinda game. He's not a good guy but he's not bad either and his relationship/dynamic with Aura is what I'm really trying to push in this game. Portraits I did not make myself, merely edited/recolored them from Rpg Maker on the original Playstation. Who doesn't like train

Again, thanks for all the comments guys, stay tuned.

Yeah my English isn´t the best.

@Flying Sheep - Ahh thank you so much, it looks much nicer now
    @Confodore - Cheers man.
@Keyblade - Thanks, and it's not so bad, I suck at English to, my actual first language no one will understand.

Just the images left out of the compilation. Also the one with the girl in the hotel is just to show off her redesign, you don't walk around as her. Also have to mention her battle sprite isn't really done yet either.

    Dear Tau,

Among Thieves really looks promising. How long are you working on this project if I may ask? The screenshot and especially the short video of Forte look amazing.
The mapping looks nice and there are now errors as far as i can see. The only thing which looks weird to me are the shadow covered roof parts.
E.g. if you skip the video to 2:00 you can see the roo part just in front of the hero. The tip of this roof part shouldn't be covered by shadow. (@1:26 you can see this as well)
On 2:10 (bottom-right) it seems like there's missing shadow on the rail/ground below the roof part mentioned above.

I'm looking forward to this awesome game!

Damm, nice screens! Different chars, but they looks great, i saw that 'Eric-runnin-charset' on a map, guess you doing your job well at that point, or whoever made it. So there's the question, if you're alone at building up Among Thieves, or you got some dudes to help you?

Facesets are just awsome, also in Battles, but seems like there's something missing to me, like some hmmm more information, Attack, Defend, Items etc, Buttons, something like that, battlescreens are just a bit empty. But there is a SideView BattleSystem, hell yea!

You know what? There is another thing missing.

Keep it up, ill keep on watching your project

I think, the atmosphere in the city would be better, if almost everyone people have a little animation. It would be more alive and match with the lively background music. But the game itself looks very good. I personally would put more details in the maps, but its not necessary, after all it looks great at it is.

@RockBluT - I just PM you my chipset folder for the game :P
@Linkey - Thank you, and I've been working on this current incarnation coming up to 5 months now. It was initially a different game and a remake of an older game from back in 2004-05 called Dragon's Tear. I've also addressed most of the errors you have pointed out as best I could.
@Sapharunh - Thanks, and yeah it's just me working on this. Reason for the no info in the battles is because a character is targeting an enemy so they have already chosen the attack
@Fenrir - I think you're the first person to ever say they'd add more detail to the maps haha. More people are doing things in the city now but not everyone though.

Thanks again guys for the great comments. I'll try for an update soon, it will be a nice one as well.

Thanks guys so much for all the votes and nominations. It really does mean a lot to me. Hopefully a demo/full release sometime this year will be reward enough
