‘Kite’ Gets Live Action Adaptation

This story seems to percolate every couple of years and it’s surfaced once again as David R. Ellis, the director behind Shark Night 3D, is partnering with the producers at Distant Horizons to bring the anime OVA series Kite to the big screen. Ellis has been around a bit with some solid pop culture credits to his name such as Snakes on a Plane and two of the Final Destination movies as well as his first work with Homeward Bound of all things. Ellis and the producers are apparently already in casting mode and seeing actors with plans to go into production in January for the film.

“I am a big fan of Yasuomi Umetsu and honored to bring the amazing world of ‘Kite’ to the big screen,” Ellis said.

The live action “Kite” is being developed as a character-driven actioner centered on a young woman living in a failed state, post-financial collapse, where the corrupt security force profits on the trafficking of young women. When her father, a cop, is slain by someone dirty inside the force, she vows to track the murderer down with the help of her father’s ex-partner — never realizing he is, in fact, the man who had her father killed.

naja die kindheitsvergewaltigungszene wird sicherlich nicht enthalten sein und ihr auftraggeber wird sicherlich nicht seinen 45cm schwanz ins bild halten und wenn man so das liest was da steht wie die story ist wirds auch ganz anders

Naja, nicht wenn sie die gesamte Serie in einen Film komprimieren wollen.
Die Serie war jedenfalls richtig gelungen. Jetzt müsste nur die Visual Novel komplett übersetzt werden.

Im ersten hat er Probleme, seine Liebe zu gestehen; in Part 2 hüpft er mit seinem Bruder Black Icarus durch eine höllisch hässliche CGI-Stadt; und in Part 3 kämpft er auf Drogen gegen Hexen.

Ghost in the Shell's Kamiyama Starts New Anime Feature

Eden of the East director Kenji Kamiyama to announce new anime on October 4

Kenji Kamiyama, the director behind such anime as Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East, and Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit, has begun production on a new anime feature. He will personally reveal his latest project at an announcement event at Tokyo's Shinjuku Wald 9 theater on October 4.

Kamiyama will screen the newest footage from the project, and staff members from the project will join him onstage. Besides the unveiling of Kamiyama's new project, the event will begin with a screening of Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. Solid State Society 3D, this year's stereoscopic 3D update of Kamiyama's 2006 film.

Kamiyama's last new, full-length anime project was last year's Eden of the East the Movie II: Paradise Lost film. Since then, he created a "Xi AVANT" anime short with NTT Docomo, started an advertising animation firm called Steve N' Steven, and produced a 3D Pepsi Nex ad with Cyborg 009.

Ich fand bis jetzt alles was ich von ihm gesehen hab ausgezeichnet (gut, die Eden of the East Filme vielleicht nicht, aber schlecht waren sie jetzt auch nicht). Ist mir schon fast egal um was es sich beim neuen Projekt handelt . (Obwohl Gits Sac 3rd Gig, oder ne zweite Geschichte, die in der Welt von Seirei no Moribito spielt, sind schon ziemlich verlockennde Vorstellungen).
Bin auf jeden Fall sehr gespannt.
