When the trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim was released in December (watch it below), fans of Valve's "Portal" games noticed quite clearly the voice of GLaDOS (voiced by Ellen McLain). Del Toro tells the Toronto Sun that was the intention and he got the permission of Valve, but he added that the A.I. voice won't sound as much like GLaDOS in the final film.
While there won't be a crossover between the worlds of Pacific Rim and "Portal," Del Toro says that he "wanted very much to have her, because I’m a big Portal fan. But just as a wink. She's not cake-obsessed. She's not out to destroy humanity."
"I said, 'Look, there's no A.I. I'd rather have than GLaDOS,'" but "the filter we’re using is slightly less GLaDOS. Slightly. The one in the trailer I wanted to be full-on GLaDOS."
