    Velsarbor Englisch: Permission?

Sorry for the Block of text...

Hi there I'm a Canadian who goes by TheErrantShepherd, I've recently gotten back into the rpg maker scene,(used to be a regular on GamingGroundZero, hanging out there but sadly kind of dead.) and I came across the brilliance that is Velsarbor... I really have no idea why I didn't try this before... I think I was even around at the time it came out on GGZ.

So, I've tried it in German... sadly despite having some German friends I do not understand at all without the aid of Google-Translate.(sad, I know)

Then, I found out about the French translation! We have to take French classes in our school in Canada, so we English speakers at least know a few terms... Now I can sort of understand it, rather than the basic plot I was able to gather from watching what was happening in the original version.

I was kind of sad to learn there is no English translation, so I've started my own like a true obsessive person despite knowing not being fluent in French and completely hopeless in German...

I've found that it works out alright when I cross reference translations via Google translate of French and German versions. My goal is to translate all the event messages and pictures as well as list where to find the events and pictures to make translation into possibly other languages quicker and simpler.

My question is... is this alright? I would think that Salmon, or Lachsen as I know him would be happy to have a larger audience, and I know that there are those in the English RPGmaker community who would love to play and understand Velsarbor. (assuming I don't give up. )

...so, yeah... guess I'm asking for a blessing/permission. Once again, love the game... literally the most technically impressive and ambitious rm2k/or otherwise project I have ever seen... very inspirational... and that's all I got to say...

EDIT: also, my apologies if this would be better as a private message.(wasn't able to find an option for that...might have been due to the translator though)

"Vibration of Nature" - It's a long story

    Hi there,

I think It's okay if you write english here, just skip the Google Translation next time, it's not like you can actually read that...

    So about the translation:

You have my permission to do it, but there is already another person who started translating the game: FlareShard
It would be a waste if you'd just redo her work (if you didn't already do it..), so maybe you can get in contact with her. That way you can also cross check your translations, since she's a nativ german speaker (but still very skilled in english - imho).

(To write her a message click on the Link above, then on "Nachricht Senden" (below the Username) and then the first option. )

I also have a couple of Photoshop files for graphic editing, but FlareShard probably already has those. Anyway, just ask me if you need those.

Apart from that: Thanks for the (positive) feedback. It's always appreciated

    C ya

Excellent! That was a very quick and positive response!

Actually, your suggestion was something I was hoping for, to try and make the translation effort quicker. Much better to have a native german speaker to work with as well.

Thankfully, (well I dunno about thankfully) I haven't done a huge amount, I'm currently compiling the various texts into a large file, with map locations and x,y coordinates to make them easier to find.

I will definately attempt to get in contact with her. Thanks for your permission, suggestion and help!

BTW: You are more than welcome for the postive feedback, thank you for your positive response.

...who knows, we may have a couple translations if we can make it easier somehow... Now I've got to try and get in contact with Shaska, to see if he has leftover files or documents from his translation work.

    Thanks again!

Did you try using DreaMaker yet? It's waaaay easier (and quicker) to extract the texts (into handy TXT files) and also import them back into the game this way, trust me - and you won't need to fumble around with coordinates and locations as much XD

And yeah, that FlareShard you're looking for is right here o/

    XD

...this is fantastic! I just sent you a PM about this.
...and yeah, that sounds much less mind-destroying!

I would love to help you in your efforts! May I please?

I am in college at the moment, so I don't have access to my main computer. But let me know the best way/time to contact you and I will do my very best to help speed this along.

Uh is the translation still in progress? I'd like to join the translating team ^^
Please contact me if it's possible!
