Well, a magazine for the maker community certainly is a nice thing to have, but I must say, that I don't like it that much.
This opinion is based on several reasons.
First of all, there's advertisement in an online-magazine. Seriously, do you guys get money or something by advertising? In a maker-magazine?
The thing that annoys me is that I have to scroll endlessly to reach the actual content. But oh, what content...
The problem is, that you are rating too high. I admit there are several opinions on games, but giving Desert Island a nearly perfect mark is ridiculous.
Heck, you even gave a game a nearly perfect mark that hasn't been finished yet
(though is looks great; but marks should be given after testing the actual game).
The text itself is short, very short. And the amount of Info it contains is really low. To put it simple, you write nothing more than "Oh, it's awesome!" or "Looks Great!". Yeah, as a final conclusion it could fit, but what you did was to stretch that conclusion into a large textbox.
One positive thing though is the illustration. It's eye-candy and a good fundament to build on.
Well, you guys do it and do it for free, so I should not be that harsh.
So why do I criticize? Well, it has to be my nature to not just freak out like a little girl like "Oh awesome! A maker-magazine! I love you!"
That's all. Oh by the way, I look forward to the next issue, maybe it will be better.
