The Mother Earth Chamber:
This one is exceedingly difficult, and in my opinion the hardest of the
elemental chambers. Right off the bat, if you do not come in prepared with
Elemental Sword Runes, expect characters to die left and right -just from the
normal enemies-. I'm told Silent Lake works on the normal enemies to stop
their area attacks, but I haven't seen it. The Dragon is actually the weaker
of the foes here.
The Spider Beetles have area attacks that will take your party members' HP
down to around 40% of maximum (or less). It doesnt cost MP for them to use,
so they will slaughter you with it. To make matters worse, there are plenty
of Fly Lizards who will put you to sleep much of the time. Ignore the Fly
Lizards, they are more of a nuiscance then a true threat.
Strong Thunder spells (Berserk Blow, etc) work well on taking down the
Beetles, as well as the Dragon itself. Change as much of the terrain as you
can to Thunder, though its somewhat hard, since 95% of the screen starts off
in an Earth Element. Fighting the dragon on its own element is quite dangerous.
The Dragon itself only has one offensive spell (Earthquake) which is rather
unpredictable and unrelable, so its not too bad if your characters stay on
their own terrain. Keep your characters on Giant Owls to avoid any damage at
all from Earthquake. The main problem is that the Dragon buffs himself up with
reflect type magics and stat boosters to make him hard to damage. He has
naturally high physical defense, so damaging him with physical attacks will
take a long time, unless you get lucky and get a few criticals in. Kika's
Falcon Rune works well in this battle. You might also want to try to Silence
him with Silent Lake.
When you defeat the Dragon, it has the ability to drop Dragons Scale, Mother
Earth Dragon Meat, or Dragon Fins. If you're lucky, you might get them all,
but that is highly unlikely. These items are for Guild Quests, and easy way to
finish a quest, if I do say so.
