Report: CHIMERA

Hallo jeder. Mein Name ist DGUY und ich bin der Schöpfer des Reports: Schimäre. Ich möchte gerade etwas screenshots der neuen Demo zeigen, die aus dem Ende August kommt. Ich spreche nicht Deutsches und benutze Babel Fische, um zu übersetzen. Ich denke, daß dieses eine nette und grosse Gemeinschaft ist und ich aroung hier bin, wenn Sie sich nicht kümmern. Zweitens kann jemand erklären mir der deutschen Spiele mit meinem charset? Ich hörte, daß es Paare gibt und ich sie sehen möchte. Danke.

Und ich habe trotzdem nur die erste Hälfte verstanden. Rückübersetzten mit Babelfisch würd ich ja gerne, aber dann kommt wahrscheinlich noch was sinnentfremdeteres raus.

If it's easier for you to speak english then do it! Much members of the community speak english, too. Because of "Babelfisch-Translating" I don't understand your question, so I can't help you. If you write your thread in your language we'll understand it and then it won't be hard to give you an answer, I'm sure.

So, dann bewerte ich einfach mal die Screens:
Das Menü sieht sehr gut aus, wirkt sehr innovativ, auch wenn es keine besonderen Menüpunkte hat, die die Notwendigkeit eines eigenen Menüs erklären würden.
Die anderen 2 Screens sehen echt schön aus, das Chipset gefällt mir, die Textbox auch, und überhaupt scheint das Spiel ziemlich interessant zu werden.

So, I'm just going to critizise the screens:
The inventory looks really good, it seems to be very innovative, even though it has no special (oh Gott... ähm...) menu points (???) which would explain the need of an own inventory.
The other two Screenshots look beautiful, the chipset is very nice, the textbox too, and anyway the game seems to be very interesting.

After some criticizing of the other users I'm back now to tell you something about your wonderful screens. It makes me happy to see your game and it's also interesting to evaluate it.

1st screen (menu):
You developed a very good inventory. I like the colours and the design. It seems to be very simpel and good for players which are new at the game.

2nd screen:
I don't like the design of the inventory. I think the first look is better than the second one.

3rd screen (dungeon):
The dungeon looks interesting. The chipset is good and the characters, too. The textbox is nice. You have chosen a colour which isn't used in much games so your game is differently.

4th screen:
See "2nd screen".

Can you write down the story, please? I'm interested in it, too. The screens are great and your own style is also great.

Let me say something about your screens: Wow :eek: they are looking very nice. Espeacially your menu looks damn good to me :A. It seems that your game will be a futuristic game, won't it? Thats great cause there are only a few chipsets for futuristic games or? So are you drawing the sets by yourself? I'am interested that much cause my game has futuristic parts, too. I think that's enough for now. I hope we will hear more from you soon.
btw: Could you repeat your questions from the end of your post cause the translating is very bad so we can't understand them.

You're screenshots look very nice, have you drawn the chipsets by your own or where do you have them from? The Crystals and the Door are looking very nice! The Menu is... now, it is a bit too filled for my taste but I think it's ok. (even if I hate menu graphics done with bevel-filters and gradients ^^)
But the icons are beautifull, and the facesets too! Charas are ok, could be done better but if you made them by yourself I think they're very nice.
But I think the best thing about the screens is, that they have their own style, the charas, the envoirement, menu, facesets and stuff - wich is a very important thing of a game's graphic I think! ;)

by the way, can you please write your text above in english please, so we can understand it? Babel Fish just spit out messy german. ^^

well, let us take a look at your screens... mhh... yeah, very nice... the menue looks pretty good, but the map... i don't like it. this chipset is IMO horrible, but it fits to the design of the rest of this game. the face is very good, did you draw it?

My original question was that what German games uses my Charset? People tells me I steal my graphics from German games, when I made them myself. I just want to see German games that have my Charset in them. Thanx

- My game has a ABS system.
- I make 90% of the graphics (expect the panoramas)
- The game will be release the end of August.

Well, it might be helpfull if we know what charsets are excactly your charsets. Furthermore I would like to know who said that you are stealing charsets from german games. I've never heard of a game creator that said that you are stealing their graphics. Even if you would use graphics from german games (well, I don't think that you are using CharSets from german games because I think I've never seen a german game with your CharSets) it does not automatically mean that you are stealing them as long as it's okay for the creator of the charset an he/she does not mind.

Edit: Please don't forget to answer my question. Will there be a playable organic character? =)

I've actually seen a screenshot of a German game with my char in it. But I dont know what it is.

Anyways, the creator never accuse me of stealling, but some English speakers would say that they have seen the charset before, and if I have permission to use it. That makes me angry a bit.

really nice Screens but why did you switch the title, i liked the old one, with this barcode on the title Screen.

The Menu is cool, but it might look more cool, if you change the light-gray interfaces into black tv-like displays. and you should choose a diffrent font(more star-trek,less MS-Dos ;) )

I like the Chipsets of your in-game Screens, but ther should be more.. whatever...just more, it looks a little to empty.
I also miss a characteristic atmosphere, or anything, giving me the feeling of being inside a futuristic universe. And i realy miss Light-effects, whats a future, without totally exaggerated electricity bills.:D
But I really Likte the Intro.

I cant remember a german game, using your charsets. But maybe there are games and i just didn't mentioned them. I'll look closer next time.

I made all the graphics except the panoramas. anyways, that's the old demo, the new version is completely redone, and the new intro is 100 times better than the old one. =)

I made the chipset myself. But i wasn't happy with them, so I have redone all the chipset for the new demo, and I also wasn't happy with the battle system, so I change that also.

Okay, I just wanted to know how fixed the "good ones / evil ones" pattern is in your game. A playable organical character would have been a hint for a game with unsure good/evil sides. :)

My first question is: How old r u? And the 2. how long hav u need for this demo? Ok the pics and such things r beautiful but those can u create without knowing how to use the RPGM...and while we r at the theme i want to know "HOW HAV U DONE THESE DAMN GOOD KS"? Hav u looked in any other game or hav u friends who know such things...it is really strange when u r saying now: " oh no i just thought, why should i dont do such a ks, just thinkin..." No so it cant be, plz tell me how u came to such a ks....?

For the German: Findet ihr nicht auch, dass diesen KS einfach genial ist...verdammt diese ganzen Kleinigkeiten modifizieren es einfach total hoch....wow

Wow! I spend weeks and months to perfect one chipset, must be really hard work if you're not an professional graphic artist or somewhat...^^
Can you give us some tips in pixel design? I would be very thankfull because my graphics always look a bit messy and it takes ages to paint them pixel per pixel! My best one was that but it is not yet complete and not very good, I know. ^^;

Anyways, you're first Demo was impressive, but their are MANY bugs yet! ;) Especially in the battle system. But the intro was very nice and the battle system is good too, even if I don't like that type so much. ^^

I count on you, people like you are the one's that make RPG-Maker gaming alive! :)

by the way, have you heared something from QHeretic's new rpg? Kindred Saga was imo one of the best rpgmaker games around, was very sad that he couldn't finish it. :/ Hope the next one will be as good or even better as KS.

Sorry, I don't know Tara's Adventure, is it a rm2k game? and i dont have ICQ, unfortunately.

Jinjukei, I started work on the old demo about 1 1/2 years ago, and released it last year when I was 19 years old. I made the game by myself, I like to work by myself, and I didn't use anyone else's ideas or help. The battle system is a combination of Chrono Trigger and Zelda, that's where I got my idea. Um, that's all. =)

Ancient, I spend a month or so on a chipset. Yes it's very long and hard to do, and there's no short cut. I can't really help anyone to make better chipset, I just do it naturally. And I didn't like my battle system that much either, that's why i have changed it for the new demo, hopefully you will like the new one.

I really like the artworks of the characters. You have chosen a very interesting style to design your charas. THe colours are good, too. Well, I think they look sad. Why do them? First of all I have to say you presented some extremely impressive screenshots, I hope we can expect a great game ;)
When I look on the screenshots, I can almost believe that the chipsets required a buch of work (honestly, this cave chipset doen't siut my personal taste, because it looks extremely weird ^^° but taste's subjective, isn't it? ^^°).

The artwork is very "self-willed" ^_^ but in the end they are quite fancy and they are siutable for your game and the game genre ;)

All in all, we expect more great screenshots and an even greater demo version of CHIMERA.

Ehm, improvement suggestions.... I think I don't have to mention them anymore, my "previous speakers" mentioned them already ^_°

Additionally, I would like to apologize for this lumpish behaviour of some users here to you, who attempted to advertise some games to you, although this thread is about your game. Nevertheless, if you are interested in some games, fell free to surf in the game sections (at the top of this page is a link called "Spiele & demos" (games&demos). If you wish, I will try to suppress those advertisements. (at least I would feel a bit pissed off, if I tried to present my game in another forum, and I get an answer like "Try that and that game, best of the world..". That's not the critics I would like to receive ^__^ errr, subjective, atlast ^^)

Javis, I use Adope Photoshop for all my graphics. It's the only program you will ever need for 2D graphics.

@TheByteRaper: I would not be so hard to these Users who tell dguy to play Tara's Adventure and Vampire's Dawn. I mean, probably they are impressed of this American coming to our forum, so they want to show him which great games we Germans are able to create. This is a normal reaction, as they hope that dguy will some day post in an english forum "Hey, the Germans are great Game developers, look at these games!".

@dguy: I played your Demo up to the first fight, and I have to say, I wouldn't be happy with this battle system either. In my opinion it's too fast and hectic, and running away from the enemies seems to be no help, as their attacks are able to reach you no matter where you are. It's something between the typical "Final Fantasy"-battle system and the action battle system of Terranigma. In my opinion this doesn't work.
But the graphics and the intro look very good, I wonder how your inprovements of those will look like.

Schattenläufer: I will definitely going to try those games you mention. Although I should say that the English speaking community think highly of german games, because there is usually alot more work put into them.

About my demo, I agree with you the hybrid battle system doesn't work on some level, that's why I have changed it completely to a ABS. And just so you know, the enemies you face can only attack you within a 5 tiles radius, so running a way is a good way to escape attack.

After i´ve read the whole topic and answers, i think your game must become one of the greatest Games i´ve played.

It´s funny to speak english in a german community ^^
So i can practice the language.

If I compare German Games and English Games like on Gaming World, I see many differences in Gameplay (many English Games use the SBS), graphic (like "A Blured Line") and Story (i think English Games have better storys than German) My favorite rm2k Game is Idunn Ymiraldor, I think it's perfect.

The screens are Ok and the atmosphere ist great and dark, although that's not to my linkig. I think, that the game will be great. Unlickily my english got worse, so it is hard to play the demo.

As for the differences between german and english maker games: This one is just minor, as there are bad games on both sides and from my point of observation, I think I can say that the relations are pretty much the same.
