Technical issues identified following Update(12/15)
Regarding the update on 2003/12/15, the following technical issues have been identified and are being investigated. Another post will be made when these issues have been rectified.
-With regards to the windows edition, Final Fantasy XI along with the PlayOnline Viewer force quits when a player is in a Moghouse and tries to use the controller, "TAB", or "0" key to target.
-> It is possible to circumvent this problem by using the mouse or the "F8" key to target. Please try this workaround to remove yourself from the Moghouse. If this does not work, please make a GM Call via the Support Desk.
-Macros having the "Ctrl" or "Alt" key bound to them have a slower response time.
-> This issue has been confirmed, and is being worked on. At this point there is known workaround, and we ask that players enter the commands in manually.
-Notorious Monsters in Fei'Yin have been reported to be able to attack players on another floor.
->Condition has been confirmed, and is being rectified.
We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you.

On the Conditions Necessary for Riding a Chocobo
In the most recent FINAL FANTASY XI update, we added a small change to the conditions necessary for riding a chocobo.
The Update Details read, "The level restriction for riding chocobos in the three main nations has been decreased to 15. However, the amount of riding time for characters lower than level 20 will be shortened."
The phrasing here is misleading. In order to ride a chocobo at level 15, it is still necessary to acquire a chocobo license in the same way under the same conditions as before the update.
Accordingly, characters who have not yet completed the quest to acquire a chocobo license will not be able to ride a chocobo at level 15. Further, the requirements for completing the quest have not been lowered to 15.
Finally, as reported earlier, chocobo ride time for characters level 15 to 19 is limited to 15 minutes.
We apologize for the lack clarity in the Update Details, and for any inconvenience this has caused.

Pernicious Presents
Since the decoration of the three nations for the holiday season, the trees around town have attracted record crowds. Vana'diel appears to be shaded by the twin branches of peace and harmony...
However, according to the latest breaking news, the trees donated to each nation of Vana'diel last year by Windurst's Rhinostery are running amok and causing all sorts of havoc!
"Disposing of those trees should have been mere routine,
but they woke from their stasis, and boy, are they mean!
Talk to a moogle to lend us a hand,
and battle the menace that threatens the land.
More than ten of them are on the rampage, I fear!
These "Twinkling Treants" are ruining the New Year!"
says a representative of the Rhinostery.
Twinkling Treant sightings continue to pour in from all over the world. Find out more about the arboreal situation from your local Moogles and help cut down these bothersome botanical beasts!
[Participation Details:]
- The right to participate in this event can be acquired from Moogles dispatched to various areas throughout the nations.
- This right will become invalid after a certain amount of time.
It can also be forfeited by speaking to one of these Moogles again.
- A level restriction will be imposed while participating in the event. The level restriction differs between regions and, if you are equipped with items higher than the level restriction, they will automatically be unequipped.
- If you are defeated by a Twinkling Treant you will only lose experience points if you were not participating in the event. But be warned, experience points will be lost as usual if you are defeated by monsters unrelated to this event.
- Assuming they meet the necessary requirements, other players, parties, and alliances will be able to attack any Twinkling Treant you are engaging without being asked for help. These treants do not drop items.
- Defeat all the Twinkling Treants to receive a special surprise!
*This event is currently underway.

If only the players successfully remove all Twinkling Treants before the event ends, a teleport service between the outposts of all regions provided by the trader's guild will be scheduled to open and provide continuous service to that World.

Teleport Service Opened!
Congratulations, citizens of Fenrir you are the first to have succeeded at removing all of the Twinkling Treant.
On Fenrir where, all Twinkling Treant were successfully removed, members of the trader's guild have been dispatched to the three Kingdoms of San d'Ordia, Bastok, and Widurst as well as the Outposts of each region. A teleport service is scheduled to open and provide continuous service.
When the special conditions have been met, the dispatches from the guild will provide a warp from the Outposts in each region back to the players' country of origin, and from the country out to the outposts in each region.
However, the teleport service is not operating in those worlds where the Twinkling Treant are yet to be removed.
Upon completing the removal of all Twinkling Treant a teleport service will open. So combine your strength and fight hard to complete the removal!
On the Usage of the Teleport Service:
- In order to take advantage of the teleport service it is necessary to fulfill the following two requirements. One, the refueling quest to the desired region must be completed. Two, the character's job level must be above that level specified by each region.
- The positions and names of the Teleport Service dispatch are as follows:
Port Windurst: (D-5) Rottata
North San d'Oria: (D-9) Jeanvirgaud
Bastok Metalworks: (F-8) Conrad
- Please take notice that the teleport service cannot be used through talking to a Teleport Dispatch outside of one's home country.
- The Teleport Service requires a usage fee. This fee changes as depending on the desired region of transfer and the condition of the Empire.
- In regards to the refueling quest, even if the quest has been received before, after the opening day of the Teleport Service on this world, it is necessary to complete the refueling quest once again.
- In the event that one has applied to move from their home country, the results of the refueling quest do not transfer with them to the other country.
- A technical issue has been confirmed wherein characters whose level is Under 20, upon talking to the Teleport Dispatch, regardless of having completed the refueling quest receive the message, "At present, as there are no regions for whom the refueling quest has been completed, we regret to inform you that we are unable to provide teleport service."
*This issue is scheduled to be fixed in the upcoming update.
