The Clash "London Calling" Interpretation

Wisst ihr was The Clash mit diesen Song aussagen wollten? Hier ist er nochmal:

Meine Meinung dazu ist das sie einfach nur zum Protest gegen Krieg aufgerufen haben? Was denkt ihr?

Ich denke nicht, daß das notwendigerweise gegen etwas Konkretes gerichtet ist... war wohl eher das übliche Punk-Aufbegehren gegen die Obrigkeit, gegen die "harmlosen" Bands der Zeit (siehe Verweis auf Beatlemania).

Beim Erscheinen 1979 war halt der kalte Krieg in vollem Gang und die "No Future"-Mentalität recht verbreitet... London Calling selbst seh ich eher als Aufforderung, sich auf die Seite der "guten Rebellen" zu stellen, damit eben die Gleichgültigkeit verhindert wird, die Bevölkerung aufgerüttelt, so was in der Art.

Anti-Kriegs-Songs gibt's reichlich von den Clash (das ganze Sandinista!-Tripel-Album), aber gerade London Calling selbst würd ich nicht so sehen, dann schon eher Spanish Bombs vom gleichen Album.

Weißt heißt dann eigentlich das "Phoney Beatlemania" und "truncheon thing!? :confused:

Phoney beatlemania interpretiere ich als ein falsches Anhängen an der Musik der 60er statt im Sinne des "neuen" Punk etwas zeitgemäßes auf die Beine zu stellen.

Das truncheon thing heisst wohl soviel, daß die einzige Bewegung nur dadurch entsteht, daß man einen polizeilichen Schlagstock an den Kopf bekommt, und dadurch der Kopf in Schwingung versetzt wird.

Sehr freie Interpretationen meinerseits, eventuell findest du im Netz eine bessere Interpretation (immerhing ist die Platte 25 Jahre alt).
