In Flames ~ Swedish Melodic Death Metal

Hoi ihr Metal Freaks da draussen!
Wer kennt von euch die schwedischen Metaller "In Flames"?
Ich finde so eine super Band hat einen eigenen Thread verdient.

Gerade ihr neustes Album "Reroute to Remain" hat's in sich.
Ich meine zwar gehört zu haben das viele die alten Sachen von In Flames viel besser fanden,
aber ich hab nix gegen die neuen Sachen von denen.
Gut auf dem neuen Album hört sich viel gleich an, aber mit "Dawn of a new Day" und "Metaphor" is doch schon mal ein anfang gemacht. ;)

Ich persönlich finde In Flames hat etwas was ich an vielen anderen Death Metal Bands vermisse; wirklich melodische Refrains, die man gut mitgrölen kann. ;)
Und ihre Gitarren-Riffs können auch mit anderen mithalten!

Ich bin mit In Flames eigentlich rundum zu frieden :D

Was haltet ihr von In Flames?
Was sind eure Lieblingssongs?
Haltet ihr sie vieleicht zu Linkin Park mäßig? Hört euch nur mal "Dawn of a new Day" an, das hört sich ehrlich ganz oft nach Linkin Park an! o.O°°°

In Flames ist die beste Band, die ich seit einigen Monaten gehört hab. Schon nach dem ersten Lied, welches ich gehört hab fand ich die Musik super (afair war es Cloud Connected). Inzwischen hab ich mir einige Alben mehr besorgt und hör eigentlich nur noch In Flames, ok nebenbei noch ein wenig Metallica und Korn.
Meine Lieblingssongs sind System, Dawn of a new day, Dead Eternity und Gyroscope.
Auf den Vergleich mit Linkin Park bin ich noch nie gekommen. Werd ich aber mal drauf achten.

Ich höre sehr gerne In Flames.
Vor allem die Clayman finde ich großartig. Auf dem Album gefallen mir eigtl. alle Stück ausgesprochen gut. Ansonsten sind noch Klassiker wie Episode 666 und Behind Space oder Instrumentals wie Dialogue With The Stars oder Wayfaerer zu erwähnen.
Auf den Vergleich mit LP wäre ich ehrlich gesagt nie im Leben gekommen. Aber an den beiden angesprochenen ruhigen Stücke habe ich mich relativ schnell abgehört, das wäre eine Parallele zu denen. ;)

Ansonsten sin in dieser Richtung noch die schon angesprochenen Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork oder At The Gates zu empfehlen.

und, von dark tranquillity und soilwork lade ich mir grade was ;)
nur habe ich zur zeit dumme connection probleme und daher wird das noch etwas dauern :rolleyes:

LP -> Dawn of a new day (hört mal ab 1:18) (hört malganz genau hin, das hör sogar ich, der LP gar nich so gut kennt...)

In Flames ist seit langem eine meiner lieblingsbands allerdings gefällt mir die RtR nicht wirklich gut. Am besten ist immernoch The jester Race IMO eines der Top Metal alben überhaupt,

Ich hab zwei Alben von denen,The Jester Race und Clayman,erstere finde ich um einiges besser,die Clayman plätschert irgendwie eintönig vor sich hin.Ansonsten muss ich mir mal die Lunar Strain besorgen,ich hab mir paar MP3s gezogen und die gefallen mir sehr gut,vorallem der Titeltrack ist das beste Lied von denen das ich kenne.Naja,das neue Album soll relativ zwiespältig sein,also mit relativ vielen Nu Metal-elementen,ich habs noch nicht gehört.
Generell ist Melodic Death Metal für mich nicht unbedingt das Genre zum dauerhaft hören...

Ich mag In Flames auf jeden Fall, kenn aber bisher nur Reroute to Remains und ein paar ältere Songs (zB Episode 666). Das mit den melodischen Refrains gefällt mir auch sehr gut, und natürlich die Gitarren.

Was haltet ihr denn von Passenger? In der Band singt auch In Flames-Frontmann Anders Fridén, nur ist die Musik wesentlich melodischer, was sich vor allem daran zeigt dass der Gesang überwiegend clean ist. Ich hab mir deren Debut Album vor einiger Zeit spontan gekauft weil ich mir einfach irgend eine neue Platte zulegen wollte und die Single Auskopplung "in reverse" ein gottverdammter Ohrwurm ist der sich nicht so leicht wieder aus den (oder zumindest meinen) Gehirnwindungen entfernen lässt :rolleyes:

Aber so begeistert war ich dann von dem Album doch nicht, zwar ist es nicht schlecht aber für meinen Geschmack zu balladenlastig und einige Songs sind imho sehr vorrausschaubar in ihrer Struktur. Aber vieleicht ändert sich meine Meinung nach öfterem anhören ja noch, obwohl das bei solch eingängigem Material nach meinen Erfahrungen nicht so oft der Fall ist.

Ich als Melodic Death Metal Fan finde In Flames genial.
Meine Favoriten sind bis jetzt Reroute to Remain, Clay Man, Pinball Map, Scorn und Egonomic.
In Flames haben einige gute Lieder und am meisten gefallen mir die Refrains, die gehen leicht ins Ohr ein und man vergisst das Lied nicht so schnell :D
IMO sind In Flames besser als ihre Konkurrenz aus Schweden (Soilwork, von Dark Tranquility kenn ich nicht soviel).

In Flames sind ziemlich gut. Ich habe die Alben Whoracle und Reroute To Remain und muss sagen einfach spitze. Leider noch nie live gesehen. Naja der Thread hätte auch ins Metal Forum gepasst ;) :P

Ich höre grad in das neue Album "Soundtrack to your Escape" rein.
Klingt richtig geil.
Kommt zwar erst nächsten Monat in den Handel, aber runterladen kann mans schon. ^^°

Da wird wohl bald Diskussionsbedarf vorhanden sein, darum hol ich den Thread schon mal hoch. ^^°

So, ich hab jetzt die ersten 4 Songs gehört. Richtig überzeugen konnt mich aber nur The Quiet Place...

Auf der Nuclear Blast Site kann man sich auch das Video zu "The Quiet Place" und "Borders and (wie auch immer es weiter hieß)" ansehen bzw. anhören, für die, die es sich nicht runterladen wollen/können.

The Quiet Place gefällt mir aufjedenfall schonmal wieder ganz gut, auch wenn es nicht an die älteren Lieder rankommt. Borders and... hab ich bisher nur zur Hälfte gehört, allerdings hat mir diese Hälfte nicht so sonderlich gut gefallen.

In Flames ist eine großartige Band, keine Frage, bloß ist das neuste Album IMO akkustischer Müll.
Zu viele elektronische Effekte, zu viel Nu-Metal Elemte hier und da, und keine wirklichen Hammertitel à la Swim, December Flower oder Moonshield.

Mit dem Reroute to Remain Album hat sich In Flames dem Nu-Metal und zugleich dem Kommerz gewidmet, wie sie selbst indirekt behaupten. Das Schlimme daran ist, das sie so weiter machen wollen und das neue Album, Soundtrack to your escape, an Reroute to Remain anknüpfen soll.

Besonders Cloud Connectet ist schlimm, bei diesem Lied dreht sich bei mir der Magen. Lauter elektronische, nahezu technoartige Effekte werden einem um die Ohren gehauen und auch die Gitarren geben längst nicht mehr so viel Gas wie auf den alten Alben. =/

Die Band hat IMO alle mal mehr drauf, als das, was sie mit Reroute to Remain abgeliefert haben. Gerade bei December Flower wird einem ein Solo nach dem anderen um die Ohren gehauen, ob nun Drum oder Gitarrensolo.
So was gibt es beim neusten Album kaum/selten, was ich sehr schade finde.

Früher hatte ich mich den größten In Flames Fan auf Erden geschimpft, was ich mit dem erscheinen des neusten Album sofort zurückgenommen habe. Schade eigentlich.

In Flames gefällt mir ziemlich gut, sowohl das aktuellste Album, wie auch die älteren. Ich höre sie zwar nicht so oft wie andere Genre Vertreter, gute Musik machen sie aber allemal.

Ich hab nur das Album "Colony" von In Flames, aber von dem her würd ich sagen sind In Flames eine der besten und innovativste, kreativsten, superbsten Musikschaffer aller Zeiten. Sie sind sozusagen die Dunkle Seite meines Rhapsody Fanatismuses. :D
Finds echt cool was die Leute hier für Bands kennen. :)

PS: Bei Colony fand ich alle Tracks genialst. Leider sind die Lyrics bißerl schwer zu verstehen. Vielleicht liegts an meinem mangelnden Englisch - Karaoke Singing:
