Zum Spiel ist bisher lediglich bekannt, dass es neben dem Hauptcharakter fünf Heldinnen geben wird. Einer der Heldinnen ist jedoch eine Verräterin und jedes Mal, wenn man das Spiel neu spielt, ändert sich auch die Verräterin.

Black Rose Valkyrie is a completely new RPG set in the first half of the 20th century where a hero, together with five heroines, battles monsters.

At first glance, it appears to be a retro military style orthodox story, but as a matter of fact, there is a traitor hiding among the heroines, and each time you play, the traitor is different.

The concept of day and night is key to the story. Some events only occur at certain times. Enemy strength and appearance rate also changes based on the time.

Interview Tidbits

Event scenes use Live2D technology.
During interview parts, you can investigate signs of treachery among your group. Apparently, if you don’t investigate properly, things won’t turn out very well.
Several different endings are being prepared.
It’s possible your favorite character ends up being a traitor, but you’ll get results appropriate to the actions you take as their commanding officer.
Battles use a turn-based command system where the order of actions changes based on the speed of the character. Add another little twist and you’ve got a system that you can really dig into.

Characters

Asahi Shiramine – The protagonist. A serious and hardworking person who gradually obtains the trust of his companions.
Ai Yakumo – A level-headed companion.
Runa Ichinomiya – The daughter of a large business conglomerate.
Amaru Franson – A girl who is always dressing up like a boy. She’s friendly and full of energy.
Kuu Franson – Amaru’s twin sister. She’s shy and isn’t good around men.
Yue Hiragi – A girl with a serious personality and the temperament of a genuine soldier.

Nette Idee, ich hoffe nur, dass sich dann auch die Story entsprechend anpasst (merklich) und nicht nur am Anfang zufällig eine ausgewählt wird und sich damit dann nur ändert wer bei der Auflösung: "Haha, ich bin es!" rufen darf^^

[Enkidu]

Klingt interessant und ungewöhnlich. Fujishima ist sowieso Win und die Idee mit der Verräterin gefällt mir. Daraus könnte man echt unglaublich viel machen, wenn die Entwickler es denn ansprechend umsetzen. Etwas doch sehr skeptisch stimmt mich allerdings, dass das ausgerechnet von Compile Heart kommt. Die sind eher bekannt für ihre auf technischer Ebene etwas billig wirkenden und Fanservice-lastigen Spiele - nichts für ungut. So klingt der Ansatz vonwegen "Ein Kerl und fünf Mädels" auch wieder ganz stark nach generischen Harem-Anime-Klischees. Nicht, dass das nicht auch ganz lustig sein könnte, aber wie viel spannender wäre so etwas mit einer normalen, gemischtgeschlechtlichen Party in einer größeren Produktion? Wenn man wirklich weitreichende Entscheidungen treffen muss und sich nie sicher ist, wem man vertrauen kann.

Da blitzen mir so viele abgefahrene Einfälle durch den Kopf. Zum Beispiel: Die Party (etwas größer, vielleicht 8 Charaktere) muss im späteren Spielverlauf getrennt werden in zwei Hälften für separate Dungeons. Nur die Teilgruppe des Helden /der Heldin wird aktiv gespielt, von den anderen sieht man bloß ein paar Cutscene-Ausschnitte, und später werden die zwei Grüppchen wieder zusammengeführt. Wenn der Verräter nicht in der Gruppe des Protagonisten ist, tötet er eine der anderen Figuren, die bei ihm sind, und zwar permanent - wenn man aber zuvor aufmerksam war und einen guten Verdacht hat, steckt man den mutmaßlichen Verräter mit in das Team der Hauptfigur und kann so schlimmeres verhindern. In jedem Fall hätte man danach den Kreis der Verdächtigen stärker eingegrenzt. Letztenendes quasi ein wenig Murder-Mystery bzw. Cluedo ins RPG gemischt ^^

Wenn das andererseits wie Dnamei meinte im Grunde keine so große Rolle im Handlungsverlauf spielt, verkäme so ein Feature zu einem bloßen Gimmick, was ich ziemlich schade fände. Generell erwarte ich lieber mal nicht zu viel, vor allem nicht was die Production Values angeht, aber ansonsten behalte ich Black Rose Valkyrie gerne im Auge bis zu richtigen Gameplay-Trailern.

Story
1818. A huge meteorite fell to earth.

An unknown virus was discovered from the meteorite, which was given the nickname “Black Garnet.” In exchange for giving the infected enhanced intelligence and might above that of a human being, it eats into their minds and flesh, and before long turns them into an inhuman “Chimera.” This virus, [which broke out in 1929] and was named the “Chimera Virus,” caused a global pandemic and three percent of humanity’s total population was lost.

In this state of crisis, the country chose a plan of “national isolation,” and blocked the virus’ entry from the outside. The “Special Force Valkyrie” was formed within the Secret Military Agency ACID (Anti Chimera Intercept Division) organized to counter the pressing threat.

“Asahi Shiramine” was chosen as the commanding officer of the newly established Special Force Valkyrie. On his way to the base, Asashi successfully pushed back a Chimera assault with the help of his group members that rushed to the scene, proving his usefulness to the force in his first battle. It was a heated victory for Asahi and company. However, a harsh fate awaits him ahead of his victory, one that Asahi and company would not yet have known at that time…


Setting
In 1929, a mysterious phenomenon suddenly occurred that changed a great number of humans into inhuman “Chimera.”

The cause was a meteor that fell in the past, given the name “Black Garnet,” which brought an unknown virus.

The “Chimera Virus,” as it was named, caused a global pandemic, and the human race lost three percent of its total population.

Japan responded to this state of emergency by invoking a policy of “national isolation” to block the virus from entering from the outside. Additionally, in order to intercept the Chimera that remain within the country, the Secret Military Agency ACID (Anti Chimera Intercept Division) was formed.

Time moved on, and in order to exterminate the Chimera that threaten its people now, the Secret Military Agency ACID formed the Special Force Valkyrie.


Chimera Virus
A “Chimera” is a person or animal that has become a monster through a gene reconstruction caused by the unknown virus named the “Chimera Virus.”

The Chimera Virus gives the infected enhanced intelligence and might above that of a human being, but on the other hand eats into their minds and flesh, and before long turns them into an inhuman Chimera.

Chimera attack people and infect them with the virus from wounds, thus creating one new Chimera after the other.

Those that are infected with the virus and may become a Chimera are known as the “Chimera Reserves.”


Valkyrie
Valkyrie is the code-name for the anti-Chimera weapons “T-C-S.”

Given that only those selected to the system can handle the weapons, they were given the code-name “Valkyrie.”

As it’s a mass of steel, ordinary people cannot wield T-C-S, but the authentication apparatus and medication from the Valkyrie enhances the body, making the weapons possible to handle.

However, the medication is reinforcement medicine with strong side effects, and other than those selected to the system, the medicine would be rejected by the organs and cause the body and mind to collapse, and the personality to split.


Characters Featured in the Trailer

Asashi Shiramine – The protagonist. A serious and hardworking person who gradually obtains the trust of his companions.
Ai Yakumo – Among the members of the Force, she is the most mindful of her comrades. She is the peacemaker of the group.
Luna Ichinomiya – The daughter of a high-power, big three conglomerate. Because of her prestigious upbringing, she’s less likely to take action that deviates from common sense.
Yue Hiragi – A serious girl with a pure military temperament. Because of her loyalty, she can sometimes exhibit inflexible stubbornness.
Amal Franson – A friendly and energetic girl. She dresses like a man and insists she’s a man, but rather than the conduct of a man, she often exhibits childlike behavior.
Coo Franson – In contrast to her twin sister Amal, Coo is shy and not good with men. Her specialties include data analysis.


Black Rose Valkyrie is due out for PlayStation 4 in Japan in 2016.

Black Rose Valkyrie, Compile Heart’s original new RPG for PlayStation 4, will launch in Japan on June 30, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals.

The magazine has a new preview introducing the “Valkyrie” weapons carried by the protagonist and his party, as well as more information on the cast that breathes life into the characters. Asahi Shiramine is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa, Luna Ichinomiya is voiced by Nekomu Otogi, and so on.

Ob CH mal vernünftige Dungeons hinbekommt? Ich glaub das ist noch zu viel verlangt. Vermutlich ist das, was man auf den Screens sieht, jeweils die Minimap für 80% des momentanen Dungeons und man darf den wieder 10 mal besuchen und es gibt nur ~10 verschiedene. Ansonsten mag ich den Artstyle. Beim Rest bin ich mir nicht so sicher. Ist halt CH. Das sieht zwar theoretisch nett aus, auf den Screens. Aber es IST CH. Insofern wird es zu 99% auch die typischen CH low-budget Schwächen haben.

Interview System
Using the Chimera opposition weapon T-C-S is an extreme burden on the user. As a result, side effects have been reported that bring about a “personality split.” The change that occurs when the personality splits is very similar to when an infected person goes berserk from Chimeraism, and this has been raised as the biggest challenge to running the system. In the case that there is a “Chimera Reserve” hiding among the Valkyrie users, it is harder to notice the difference between Chimeraism or not, and because it would expose the unit to a critical situation, each member must be interviewed at fixed intervals for indications of Chimeraism.


Battle System

Black Rose Valkyrie uses a command-based battle system that changes the order of actions in real-time, and is called the “Tactical Fluid Battle System.” By always changing the order of actions, it becomes a battle where both allies and enemies are jumbled together. You can use commands such as “Combos,” “Charge,” and “Arts” to play out tactical battles. Take on formidable foes using your Chimera opposition weapon T-C-S to its fullest potential.


T-C-S Code Name “Valkyrie”

“T-C-S,” code-named “Valkyrie” is the tactical weapon used for the opposition of Chimera. Asahi Shiramine, as well as every one in the Special Military Forces Valkyrie, use a T-C-S to fight against Chimera. The TCS is enabled by connecting via a plug to the body of persons authorized by the system. Currently, an enhancing agent that physically strengthens the user is administered at the same time, in order for the user to handle the mass of steel that is a T-C-S like a normal weapon. However, the burden on the user’s body as a result of this medication is very large, and long-term use is prohibited. It should be noted that, in the case that someone other than an authorized person uses the weapon, the system and enhancing agent will be rejected, which could cause the person’s body and mind to collapse, and in the worst case, even die.

Das Cover erinnert mich ziemlich stark an Tales of, ist das vom selben Zeichner?

Das Cover ist von Kōsuke Fujishima, der vor allem für das Character Design der Tales of Spiele verantwortlich ist. Habe grad auch gelesen, dass er "Oh my Goddess!" illustriert hat, was ich ziemlich interessant finde. Auch war er der Character Designer von "Piano: The Melody of a Young Girl's Heart", welcher zu meinen Lieblingsanime gehört. :)

Ai is an expressive girl the same age as the protagonist, Asahi. Since she’s the level-headed and caring one of the unit, she play the role of peacemaker among her quirky comrades. She may speak strongly sometimes, but behind those harsh words she really cares about her friends.
